While host Scott McNulty’s modesty prevents him from claiming the idea of randomness as a concept, he deserves praise for marrying it with Star Trek. Asking listeners to follow a complete rewatch would be too tedious for words, and the episodic nature of most Star Trek series means random episodes don’t leave viewers completely lost. In fact, the randomness reminds me of my childhood, filled with syndicated episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, which aired unpredictably during the off-season on my local UHF station.
Scott brings a fan’s love of all things Trek while having no qualms about calling the show out on its lesser episodes, or those that hold up poorly to modern sensibilities. Random Trek is a lot of fun and I totally recommend giving it a go. And best of all, you can start anywhere, as long as you aren’t afraid to add an extra layer of randomness to your listening.
